Something I posted recently brought up the question of the benefits of walking and whether outside of personal enjoyment it has any mental health benefits.
I say yes.
I’ve written previously about a time where my CBT therapist asked me when I last felt relaxed an I said it was walking down a hill in Scotland listening to a particular song. More about that here
For me, walking isn’t so much about getting more physically fit or even preparing for a more challenging routine. It’s about (and I know this sounds fluffy and new age’y) connecting with your self, taking some quiet time and and thinking about what the next steps should be in improving your mental and physical health.
In summary, walk, chill and take in the here and now and try and work some action points to move forward 🙂
